The cultural and neighborhood center is a place for encounters, advice, education and culture for all people from Cotta, Dresden and the surrounding area.
It offers a space for people active in the neighborhood to work and live.
We view cultural diversity as mutually enriching and utilize its potential.
For us, sustainability means change. As a place for communication and encounters, as well as through its activities and events, the Volkshaus wants to help people see themselves as shapers of their own future for a democratic and cosmopolitan culture.
The Volkshaus is non-partisan.
The Volkshaus sees itself as a political player in city life.
The Volkshaus is aware that it serves as a projection surface for other political actors, but is not responsible for these projections: We are not obliged to react to any appropriation.
We clearly distance ourselves from any undemocratic, nationalist, racist, sexist and other group-related, misanthropic positions.
We at Neues Volkshaus Cotta respect and protect the personal dignity of each individual and do not tolerate discrimination on the basis of gender or sexual orientation, origin, ancestry, skin color, religion or political views, physical or mental abilities, appearance, social background, income, language or age.
Common goals, respectful interaction and open communication are our basis for trusting cooperation.
All people in the Volkshaus contribute to the realization of the long-term goals of the Volkshaus by declaring fundamental tolerance, taking responsibility for their thoughts and actions and treating each other openly and fairly.
We develop together through exchange and are open to everyone who wants to contribute their good ideas for cooperation and co-design.
Our premises are open to all residents of the district who want to use our services as well as organize their own meetings and activities.
Our work is not only supported by our permanent staff, but above all by the involvement of association members, voluntary services and volunteers.
We are always interested in new ideas and approaches as well as the cooperation of different interest and age groups in their implementation.
We implement democratic decision-making structures and encourage active and independent participation
We enable artistic and creative work in various fields for all generations and at the same time promote cultural and democratic education and intercultural competence.
We attach great importance to cooperation, coordination and networking with social institutions, educational institutions and the administration.
Culture is the creative engagement of people with their world, which begins in the social living environment, shapes living spaces and creates cohesion in a community in which tolerance, optimism and solidarity are lived.
All employees, both full-time and part-time, support this mission statement and live it through their commitment to the Neues Volkshaus Cotta.
