The open storytelling stage in the new Volkshaus Cotta

"Tell, tell, tell - may your story keep the darkness at bay and bring forth the day! " With the words of Scheherezade, the Neue Volkshaus Cotta invites you to the Open Storytelling Stage.

An evening under the motto of sharing, the sharing of stories. Because it's not just professional storytellers who are allowed to tell stories here, no, the audience is invited to tell their own stories, whether they are self-experienced, legends or fairy tales. The result is a diverse, often surprising evening. An evening of stories that help us to build a bridge not only between night and day, but also between old and young, yesterday and today, the rising and setting sun, you and me.

We look forward to everyone coming to listen, to tell, to be inspired and to try things out. Nothing must, everything may (within the framework of good interaction)!

When? Wednesday 15.05.24, 7 pm

With? Katharina Randel, Jule Richter from Erzählraum e.V.

Panel discussion "Bye Bye Brandmauer?!"

In the current election year and since the publication of the Correctiv investigation, there has been much discussion in Germany about the firewall against the right, and not just at demonstrations of the same name. Does this strict demarcation against the right hold, especially at a local level, or should we take a closer look at where there is already cooperation? In the panel discussion, we will take a look at the west of Dresden & discuss how things stand with the firewall, what strategies we have against right-wing groups and their influence on society & politics. What perspectives do initiatives and projects have after the elections?

With? "No quarter for exclusion"

When? Wednesday, 22.05., 6 p.m.

Reading "The Granddaughter" by Bernhard Schlink

The novel by the well-known author Schlink not only tells a (love) story about East and West, but also about the effects of the collapse of the GDR. It is about wishes and dreams, but also about the inability to discuss with people who are ideologically influenced.

The reading is intended to arouse curiosity about the book. Afterwards, guests are invited to discuss the book at tables.

With? Ruth Wunderlich, Anja von Bahder

How much does it cost? We are happy to receive a donation.

When? Tuesday, 28.05., 7 pm
